Details in Design

Location: Thei Campus Courtyard, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong

Topic: Details Exercise

Year of Study: 3

The purpose of this exercise is to test the student’s ability to be creative in details and at the same time, be able to know how to construct the proposed design. The site is in our existing campus courtyard.

The design approach of the courtyard is determined by the existing circulation and entrances of the building. The approach is to give easy access to the respective rooms around the courtyard. Therefore, an asymmetrical approach is used by intersecting trapezoids to give direct access to the rooms as well as maintain a degree of openness around the area.
