Synopsis:

Kwu Tung area is one of the last remaining agricultural lands in Hong Kong. It is also rich in biodiversity, with scenic landscapes ranging from hillsides, woodlands, and marshes. On top of all, the existing tenants lives off from the existing farms and industrial activities. Villagers have a long history and sense of belonging in the area, reaching from many generations before.

With the help of GIS, the objective is to map  out the Landscape Character Areas (LCA) to help assist in the proposed development of a whole district, housing approximately 100,000 people with commercial, community, and public facilities. Landscape Value and Sensitivity is used to set the parameters for the development and also minimize ecological impacts, and maintain the social and cultural value of the site.
